Our Scholarship Program is one of many great involvement opportunities the Texas Exes Austin Chapter offers alumni. We raise funds year-round through our Orange & White Kickoff Party, Texas Independence Day Party, Sponsorships, Raffles, and Silent Auctions to give awards to the best and brighest Austin area high school students who choose to attend UT. Texas Exes Austin Chapter Scholarships

Texas Exes Austin Chapter awards scholarships to talented high school students from the Austin area to attend The University of Texas. We awarded $5,000 in scholarships in 2009, $7,000 in 2010, $10,000 in 2011, $13,500 in 2012, $16,000 in 2013 and $18,500 in 2014! We have given over $71,000 in scholarships since 2009.

Texas Exes Austin Chapter / Joe & Lee Jamail-Joe & Teresa Lozano Long Challenge Grant Scholarship

The Texas Exes Austin Chapter awards one 4-year $1,000 scholarship every 4 years to a bright and talented Hispanic or African-American student from the Austin area.

The current recipient is Andrea Loera who will be a junior at The University of Texas at Austin.  Andrea graduated 4th in her class from Dell Valle High School, was editor of her school newspaper and a Dell Scholar. Andrea majors in International Relations & Global Studies and plans to study law to become an immigration lawyer.

Texas Exes Austin Chapter Past President’s Scholarship

In 2011, former Texas Exes Austin Chapter Presidents Richard Heller, David Thompson, and Ted Barnhill started up the Past President’s Scholarship Endowment to recognize the hard work and dedication of the Past Presidents of the Texas Exes Austin Chapter and as a direct way that the Past Presidents can continue to give back to the Texas Exes Austin Chapter.  In 2013, this Scholarship became fully endowed and will be eligible to benefit a one-year scholarship for entering freshmen at The University of Texas at Austin from the Austin area.
